The people who root for me even if I disregard their advice

It’s been a hell of a year so far, but I have to admit that even when it’s hard, it’s a better situation than having nothing to do.

I got some very sound advice during a reading last week that reminded me of my own wisdom. Having a different set of challenges than I did last year, I have been surprised at the circumstances and have been taking in many people’s opinions advice about what to do. While it’s great to have people supporting me in this way and providing free advice that I would have in normal circumstances had to pay for, I was reminded that sometimes you have to stop listening to people telling you what to do and think for yourself what is best for you. Because only I really know.

I have also been thinking a lot about everything I have been given. In my childhood I was taught that I had to work for everything in life, and so when people and circumstances and things came along I don’t think I took the time to accept the fact that they were mine, and felt guilty for having them. It makes me wonder if this sense of guilt at having is what is preventing me from accepting the advice of others. After all it is a privilege to have these things and should give me motivation to give back. Sometimes I do feel that I should just give it all back and start over again!

I believe that sometimes we are given more than what we ask for and what we expect, so we must accept, even if we do not or will not use it all. Advice included.
