This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!

I admit it, I am not using LinkedIn to its max.

My profile is 100% complete, but I was just having a look at it yesterday and noticed a shwackload of new sections you could add to your profile.

I noticed there was also an Edit Background function similar to Twitter (1400x425px size) – I originally used a similar one I was using as Twitter, but didn’t like the pixellation it was creating, so I changed it to a photo of me instead. Then they gave me an “All-Star” rating. Boy am I special! That calls for ice cream.

I have also been wondering how some of my LinkedIn connections in the past year or so have gotten their articles or blogs “published” and then subsequently into my weekly e-news feed.

It’s not rocket science – thank my colleague Michela Quilici (who is also the colleague who recruited me into eWomenNetwork) for discovering the secret to the post function!

It’s under Edit Profile and go to Create Post. Simple as that!

You’ll probably want to create a great header (698×400 px).

Another function I haven’t been using as much as I should have is the Publications function. Whenever you have guest posted on another site or have contributed to one, you can add your Publications to your profile as well.

I’ve heard many times how much entrepreneurs neglect LinkedIn, and it’s true! While I post to the network daily, I could have definitely added more content to help make my profile and work more attractive. I’m currently going through all of my old blog posts and taking note of ones that I plan to make into LinkedIn posts, as well as posting blogs I’ve written or been featured in as Publications.

Are there any other hot LinkedInfeatures you know about that I haven’t mentioned here?
