So you want to start a vegan business someday. What if your “someday” is now?

The same week the pandemic was announced in mid-March, I said on my IG/FB Stories that the best way to thrive in a crisis was to start a business. And I wasn’t kidding!

A month later, 2 million Canadians lost their jobs. Our government stepped in with a wage subsidy to help people survive and pay their bills. Great, right?

If I wasn’t still operating my business, I would have taken that benefit. When you rely on job stability and government payouts to survive, you become reliant on others for your well-being.

Maybe you’re vegan and have wanted to start a business but don’t have a clue on where to begin or what to sell.

Or you’ve long been dreaming of turning your hobby into a business, but lack the skills and knowledge on how to transition.

Or you tried to start, got stuck, and went back to cleaning the house (again) and Netflix binging.

If you’re thinking one would be crazy to start a company in an economically unstable year, here’s my truth: I started my first business in 2008 when I was 25, not knowing the economic recession would hit that spring. I not only survived, but lasted a decade.

Vegan Mainstream’s The Passionate Entrepreneur course is the Business 101 course I wish I had when I was starting out.

When I launched my current business at the start of 2020, I learned about Vegan Mainstream, which helps vegan businesses of all sizes thrive. As a two-year vegan, I got super excited about their community and quickly became impressed at how much value they provided in their free content (which includes a LinkedIn group and Slack channel for vegan business owners).

The Passionate Entrepreneur is a course for people who are vegan, even though IMO it can really help ANY aspiring entrepreneur, so if you’re already on track to becoming vegan AND becoming a biz owner, THIS IS FOR YOU.

Even though I didn’t need a course on how to start a business because I’d already done this a few times around, I took The Passionate Entrepreneur to see if I could learn something new. Holy smokes! The course matched the calibre of content that VM always puts out. Some of the things I loved about it:

  • I learned at my own pace. The lessons that were a review for me went by more quickly than what was new.
  • The documents are GOLD.
  • The course teaches how to prioritize tasks, which something I could have used when I ran an agency and started bringing people onto my team.
  • It’s not enough to read a book or watch videos to learn how to run a business. It makes all the difference when you get not just support but validation on your ideas FROM A HUMAN BEING.

Also, I didn’t know the health crisis would hit, so VM’s content ended up being a great resource for how to change things up. I thought about fresh ways to do things I’d not thought of before. I even thought of helping other aspiring vegan entrepreneurs (which is how I came across the course), and realized that new founders need coaching support, which is not my forte.

I’m not worried about surviving the 2020 crisisI’m excited to thrive, especially with the supportive vegan business community I’m now tapped into, both locally and globally.

The Passionate Entrepreneur is self-paced and designed for completion in six months, but you have access to the course content for two years. It also includes group Q&A calls and a coaching session with Stephanie Redcross-West, who is a WEALTH of information (watch our interview below). She’s based in Orlando, Florida, but has tailored the course to anyone living anywhere.

If you want to sign up, just click on the image below for all the info, including a preview of Lesson 1.

The course is $247 USD and there is an option to pay in instalments. Business coaches typically charge hundreds if not thousands for every month you work with them, so you will not get better value than this.

And, if you’re not satisfied with the course (which I know won’t happen!), there’s a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can’t lose.

Here are the other courses in the Vegan Mainstream roster (last updated August 2021, all USD $):

There are other courses that are free of charge, so check out the website.

Any questions for me? Pop them in the comments.

Below are the interviews I did with VM’s Stephanie Redcross-West in early May 2020 and the panel with Ana Mexia in June 2021, and below those you’ll find a more recent video of her sharing about where to focus when your business is in crisis. She’s brilliant!
