Our new Advisor, Stephen Elliott-Buckley
One of the amazing things about our journey to B Corporation certification is acknowledging the need for external advisors. One of the areas we earned points in was forming a Board of Advisors. Since one of them left our board of three, I had been thinking about potential individuals who could fit that gap, and I’m proud to say that I have found him!
Stephen Elliott-Buckley is an Organizational Design Consultant, speaker, and business path consultant. He is also a professor of Labour Studies at Simon Fraser University, and consultant at Incipe Cooperative. We met at the Sustainable Vancouver Business Networking Meetup group two years ago, when I was on my journey toward earning B Corp for Conscious PR. LinkedIn was great in helping to stay connected with Stephen, even though I hadn’t seen him since that event.
Stephen generously gave more than his required time a few weeks ago to provide his perspective on what we’ve achieved and on the big vision I have for the next couple of months and years. Along with my other advisors in Michela Quilici and Kaare Long, I am so blessed to have received not only the wisdom and guidance of these individuals but also their support and assurance that I am on the right track. Advisors provide a unique perspective that Mastermind colleagues or mentors don’t, and for that I’m grateful.

Whether or not you’re pursuing B Corp, I highly recommend that you form a Board of Advisors of at least three individuals who have expertise in different areas. You’ll thank me for it!
