I am beginning to really learn the lessons that adulthood teaches. I’m always learning, but I feel like it’s all starting to make sense now. For some reason when I was young, I thought that as you get older, things get easier. This is not the case. They actually become more complex, and harder. And then it gets easier as you get even older, have less priorities and capabilities, and you die.
I don’t mean that to be depressing. As I approach the last few weeks of my early 30’s, I feel like the Universe has placed me exactly where I need to be. My childhood was a breeze compared to the situations and issues I face now. And while it’s going to be a whirlwind year with all of the personal milestones I will be facing along with running the business, the last month of emotional stretching is my gym training for handling it all.
I had such a full weekend and was reminded that even though weekends aren’t always restful, they can be fun and heartwarming and connective. And these are the moments that I balance against the hard conversations I’m starting to have with my aging parents. I’ve learned I can no longer interact with them the same way I did when I was younger. And luckily I’ve got my support system to talk through this with, because there is no manual for how to deal with the people you’ve grown up with for over three decades in a different way.
On a lighter note, our presentation on Ushering Your Company into the Age of Change on March 23 filled up in three days. It’s a sign that our new direction is one people are interested in. I’m also grateful for the divine messages I download on social media through spiritual gurus like Danielle LaPorte, Mastin Kipp, and Gabrielle Bernstein. The right messages always seem to come at the right time and it helps me reflect on everything I’m going through.
