The pros and cons of women’s intuition

I have been thinking a lot this past week about how great women are and our innate ability to form community and rally behind each other. I have also been learning – late in my business – how to use my intuition, since I tend to second guess myself and only act when I think conditions are perfect. And they never are, even though they may appear to be on the surface.

I have sensed things that seemed off at work and when I dug into the issues with my staff I was able to get to the root of the issues, so I know my intuition doesn’t fail me. However, it isn’t always right. You have to be able to decipher whether it’s just a feeling or you need more information to be able to make an informed decision. And I think this is where women tend to fail both in business and in life — not that failure is bad. Failure is good. We learn through failing.

I don’t think many men have this sixth sense and so it seems that they are more data driven and they are able to act on what they see and on the facts. This is a skill that women could use more in addition to our sense of intuition. Because either alone isn’t in reality, or isn’t very creative or joyful.

I watched Captain America: Civil War this past week and I was quite intrigued by the “bromance” that existed between Captain America Steve Rogers and his friend (left), the “Winter Soldier” Bucky Barnes. I found it to be a very feminine relationship, despite the fact that Rogers was pretty much pummelling anyone in his way who wanted to kill his friend. I think that these bromances exist in real life but they are not expressed very often.

Yesterday I met a new colleague and felt I shared a good rapport with her. It sounds like there may be an opportunity to collaborate later this year, and I feel that this will come true, but I won’t know for sure until the time comes. A lot of things can change in a few months time.

And it would be great to live in a world where we can both fully express our feelings and intuitive thoughts, and also act in reality.

Do you think this kind of world is possible?
