Good practice reminders

Our client event is fresh in my mind, so I’ve got some tips that can help improve campaigns for just about any client.

1. Link to photos & video(s) in your pitch. Even if they’re on a resource page or newsroom, it’s an extra click for media to get to them, so make it easy. I prefer Dropbox or Flickr for photos, and of course YouTube or Vimeo for video.

2. Create a resource/landing page/blog on the client’s website. In our case, we ended up using a Facebook event which can be great for gaging interest, inviting people, and posting updates, but it also misses out on the opportunity to drive traffic to the client’s website directly.

3. Display social media information prominently. This goes for pitches, landing pages/newsrooms, and physically at an event. Make it easy for the public to engage on social.

4. Run through placement at events. Where are speakers going to stand? Where are ideal places for video cameras & photographers? Even if you aren’t producing an event, these are good factoids to know for media. And, don’t be late!
