Celebrating seemingly small accomplishments that are actually huge
This past Tuesday was a not-so-normal day, but not an extraordinary one either. I was finally able to go back to our B Corporation Assessment and put in some of the items that I’ve been tracking, calculating, and achieving for the last few months, including our 1% For the Planet membership. We’re now up to 85 points, more than the minimum number required to obtain B Corp Certification.
I had a bit of a “holy shit” moment and remembered back to the start of the year when achieving B Corp seemed so far away. I plugged and plugged away at the assessment items and I got a higher and higher score. In terms of our 2015 business goals, I have three more vlogs to do and we have now achieved the experience of doing our first North American campaign. So with B Corp certification I can say that I completed all of this year’s goals, which I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do going into fourth quarter.
I had a wonderful meeting with a former client, and remembered that warm fuzzy feeling that I want to have with all of our clients. We want to like and genuinely connect with them. It can’t be all about money. I’ve also had some great conversations with other potential clients who seem really values-aligned. Yes, we all want to make money and grow our businesses, but it’s refreshing to be treated like a person rather than a slot machine.
It was great to look back at some of those small accomplishments and revel at how far I’ve come since starting my business. No one said it was going to be an easy ride, but these smooth patches are pretty awesome.
Do you have a small accomplishment worth celebrating today?
