This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!
The people that rocked my weekend
1) High tea mastermind with Michela & Kaare of a Cue Creative Consulting
Since 2013, I have been meeting regularly with these two amazing ladies who have been instrumental to the growth of Conscious PR. It was nice to celebrate our year of success together over tea and and an amazing gluten-free, dairy-free lunch and look forward to what’s to come in 2015.
2) Stop Networking, Start Netwerking with Transformation Projects & SVI Alumni (among others)
Since experiencing parties at SVI Hollyhock, I vow never to miss an event put on by Transformation Projects if I can help it. Andrea & Adrian are not just event planners, they are experience creators and brought together hundreds of changemakers in various groups in town for one massive party with positive vibes, sick beats, and a great time at eatART Foundation, where I hadn’t yet had the pleasure of visiting (come to the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire next year to see their stuff!).
3) Make It Vancouver
Rain don’t mean nothing in Vancouver.
I was recently thinking back to before or perhaps even during the first Make It show back in 2009, when I attended Jenna’s first attempt at a business conference. There I was introduced to Forum for Women Entrepreneurs and a freelance writer who I still stay in contact with. I remember Judy Brooks speaking when she was still with Blo Blow Dry Bar, and the Cupcakes ladies, Heather and Lori. Jenna’s now the boss of one of our city’s biggest craft fairs (co-founded with her brother Chandler), and I was one of the people in the steady stream of attendees on Saturday, food in hand from The Reef’s food truck outside. I scored myself a great Cowichan style sweater from NOMAD by Elroy (I’d show it here, but I have to pick it up!) and got to say hi to a few familiar faces while weaving through the crowd. Make It TV was also one of the selected Storyhive series to be funded by TELUS, so they are really killing it (with success) these days.
4) Lunch with Katy
Katy Papadopoulos is a great coach who is soon to take the business & personal growth world by storm! Katy gifted me with 3 sessions in exchange for a testimonial earlier this year, and I did a lot of learning in between those sessions. Because these were always done over the phone, it had been a while since we had seen each other, so it was great to catch up. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs someone to support and help them push their limits in order to grow.
5) Mommy Rapper’s release (and see you soon) party
Mommy Rapper performed her first two singles that she crowdfunded for at FanClub on Sunday night; it was also a bittersweet event as her family is moving to Sacramento where she and Sean will be able to grow their careers. I know Cali is going to love her and then she’ll be able to tour North America with her family and come back to Vancouver, where I’ll be in the front row lip syncing to all of her lyrics.
Wishing you rocking weekends right through to 2015!
