Companies who fly under the radar for their work
How does the world stop from collapsing on itself?
There are a lot of people and companies who are doing good for the world and who don’t often get the recognition they deserve. These last few weeks I’ve gained an appreciation for those who have paved the way or made it possible for people like us trying to change the way we do things. (The term “undercover lightworkers” is actually from Doreen Virtue, who I saw speak at Hay House’s I Can Do It conference in 2012.)
1. B Corporation recently released their Best for the World Honorees list. Check it out here. If you’ve never been exposed to B Corp. before, you might be surprised to learn that some of the well known brands you already know about and buy from are actually undercover lightworkers.
2. Netflix is changing the game for EVERYONE who consumes media. A colleague of mine stars in an upcoming original series called Marco Polo, debuting December 12, and I cannot wait for the world to see her. Not only that, but I learned at SVI the type of corporate culture that Netflix cultivates. I was advised to check out their manifesto, which is 124 pages long. I am currently working on a manifesto for my company.
3. Other PR companies have been great to me and really hit home the fact that we are all in business together, not to be at each other’s throats. Yesterday I signed a contract for a new event client who I’m “adopting” from a retired PR professional. Today I received a call for another potential referral from a different PR person. I am so grateful to be on the receiving end of others who are so generous, and I pay it forward as much as I can when potential work comes to us and it’s not a fit for various reasons.
Have you taken the time to think about who you can pay tribute to today?
