Discovering my own sense of happiness

2013 and 2014 have been pretty epic years for me in the sense that I have learned the most about myself and the world around me during these past 20 months than I have my whole life.

In TM we learn that the practice of meditation connects us both to the universe around us and to the universe within us. I believe that the meditating has probably been one key to the magic that’s occurred.

One week after SVI I am still carrying a strong sense of deep connection to the world and started to wonder whether I have ever felt like this before. I can confidently say I’ve spent most of my life searching for meaning that I thought was in a lot of external things, and in that search has been struggle and a sense of lack of wholeness. Only in glimpses here and there can I remember being worry-free and peaceful.

The first time I heard Dr. Sukhi speak he said something like we are born perfect beings, but something happens in our childhood that breaks us, and we struggle for the rest of our lives to repair that trauma (read his book Beyond Body Beyond Mind for more on this.)

It’s going to take a lot of inner work to keep this sense of peace. It’s far too easy to let it go and go back to worrying again. But I’m hanging on with all I’ve got.

What do you do to keep that sense of stillness in you?
