Accepting imperfections in your campaign
It all came to me at a yoga class. PR
Yesterday was one of those days when I was killing it, and getting on top of things. And the e-mails came, one by one and I was tackling them like a swordsman taking on a herd of lions. And I got that old feeling again from my good friend, fear, that I couldn’t handle it.
In the afternoon I had the privilege of taking a yoga class at Distrikt Movement, a new fitness studio co-owned by G Day speaker Alex Mazerolle. She held a special class for G Day speakers as well as had Shaw TV in to film and do interviews. Everything went nearly flawlessly, but that feeling of imperfection was still with me.
Until yoga. Alex reminded me to let go of whatever energy I was carrying with me and just be. She also had us think of a girl in our lives who we are practicing for. I thought of how much of an impact I have on Aaliyah as an aunt. I may not be her mother, but I know that the stronger I can be for her, the stronger she’ll be as a person because she’ll have more women in her life to look up to. Yoga is a powerful practice in this way – it works on your thoughts and your body!

I realized that I must accept that sometimes my work and business do not go perfectly. Sometimes I do have to work overtime to get things done. But I do not have to fight herds of lions, and even though it feels like I am alone, we are never alone in our purpose because we are all on this Earth together. I can only do what I can do, and sometimes that is enough.
