This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!
I attended the 5th eWomen Network Success Summit yesterday, LIVING BRAVE. Having attended this conference in 2010, I knew that it would be a day of learning and inspiration. I remember having heard CEO Sandra Yancey speak and keeping her notes on my iPhone.
Sandra’s hour-long talk was a lot about business, but I was positively surprised to hear that all 5 of her tips were about personality – anyone could take these tips with them. (To check out the Twitter feed for all of the gems that resonated with attendees, check #ewnconf)
1. When your past calls, hang up. This is something I continue to struggle with – being grateful for the lessons my past has given me, and wishing people well who have left my life for a reason. Also beating myself up for not learning things about my business fast enough.
2. Life doesn’t shift by chance; it shifts by change. For six years I’ve waited and waited for things to ‘look up’ in my business. It wasn’t until recently that I decided I needed to bring on people on my team if I wanted to climb.
3. Listen to your heart. Sandra talked about her own personal growth routine and regimen and taking care of her health. Having been a student of the practice since 2011 but not seeing many results in my business, I knew in my heart that I had to take something like ESP to shake things up, and I’m glad I did because I am pushing myself not just to achieve with Conscious PR Inc. but also to launch another business.
4. Be a quitter. Quit hanging around the people that do not elevate you. I don’t think it’s necessary to cut people out of your life altogether, but I know that the top 5 people you hang around are a reflection of your values.
5. You can’t soar until you first FLY (First Love Yourself). Self-care: The ultimate journey.
