Is the Favorite Button the new Like on Twitter?
This is inspired by Rebecca Coleman’s blog post on Twitter’s Favorite Button becoming the new “Like” for Twitter.
I too have been noticing more favourite-ing going on on my networks. The way I use – and have come to understand – this button is that it “bookmarks” tweets, perhaps that have mentioned me or are on a specific topic I know I’ll want to read later.
I think that people ARE using it as a “Like” button and while the compliments are nice, I still can’t help but feel that they are misusing the button.
I read a headline recently about Twitter possibly changing its use of @s and #hashtags which are the cornerstone of Twitter. I actually wished there was a real “Like” button on Twitter. I just don’t think the Favorite button is what users are hoping it will become.
What are your thoughts on Twitter’s calls to actions? Are you using the Favorite button as a “Like” button?
