This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!

I sprained my ankle for the first time in my life, carrying a bin down some stairs while moving yesterday. Here’s what the universe has taught me about this experience.

1) Use your common sense.

I wasn’t wearing proper footwear at the time. Always wear runners when you move. Always.

2) Remember someone else is always suffering more than you.

Getting in and out of the shower and dressing gave me a whole new respect for people with physical challenges and limitations. I cannot complain and appreciate the little actions that I take for granted.

3) Rest.

After a long week of physical exhaustion I was ready for a vacation. No better vacation than propping your feet up on a pillow and doing work with your laptop on your lap.

These are all things you should do regardless of whether you’re injured or not. Have you learned lessons from being injured or limited by illness?
