This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!
I’m out of things to blog about in the external world, so I’m going inside today.
I’m in a good place right now, super grateful for everything that I have in the present moment. What’s been interesting this past week or so with the two conferences I attended is that both remind me how much work I have to do to keep my business moving in the future.
While sitting and killing time last week, I was thinking about how much work I had put on my plate recently – volunteer time included. I realized this is the ninth year I have been involved in the Vancouver Short Film Festival. Nine years – that’s almost an entire decade! And I realized that I have been spending a lot of time and energy helping others, and even though I try to take care of myself with healthy food, exercise, and down time on the weekends, the other stuff still outweighs the amount of time I spend with myself.
So I decided that 2014 is going to be the year of me. I will still run my business and take on at least one volunteer project, but I’m going to go back to doing some things I haven’t done with myself in a long time – as long as six years. After ending some of the work I’ve committed to sticking to until the end of 2013, some of the things I plan on continuing to do or starting next year include:
- Writing: Blogs for Conscious PR and poetry
- Meditating more – twice daily if possible
- Cooking and baking
- More time with family and friends
- Reading
- Exercising
- Listening to music
- Watching film
- Relearning French – this is a tough one
- Budget pending: Travelling, and joining a Toastmasters group (do you pay for these?)
Have you had moments where you looked back and forward at the same time?
