This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!

Blogs this past week have been a lot about me, so here are 3 conscious businesses worth knowing about today:

1) Hello Cool World‘s Dream Machine

Hello Cool World is the marketing and distribution agency behind The Corporation and other awesome social change campaigns like the LACE campaign for Pap test awareness.

Wanting to continue on with their work in a more powerful way, they have applied for funding from the Canadian Film Centre to make their “Dream Machine” distribution platform for social cause media a reality. With so many causes to support and the increase of media via the Internet, it is more important than ever to cut through the clutter and reach key audiences.

You can help them by “BOOSTing” their idea here:

2) Marc Smith’s #30DayAdventures Fundrazr Campaign

Marc Smith is the genius behind the successful on and offline series, #30DayAdventures, where he has spent 30 days exploring Vancouver, the food truck scene, kindness, resolutions, and people you should know. Now launching the most recent series, #30SmallBusinesses, Marc is launching a campaign to help sustain himself while he turns this passion project into a dream career.

You can help him do that by supporting his campaign via Fundrazr here:

Marc is a pillar in the Vancouver community and although it is for his career, his series has helped to tell the stories of many businesses and people, inspiring countless readers and social media engagers. I am one of his fans!

3) Neighbor New York

On the international front, Neighbor is a part-time restaurant in Brooklyn, NYC that is run out of an apartment once a month. The GOOD article I read that told the story of this restaurant didn’t say how many people lived in the apartment, but it was created out of the need to make friends in a more intimate way.

On the first dinner night, a guest shared all the things he wanted to do in life. Becoming a friend, they have seen him accomplish those things over the years. It really doesn’t take a lot of work to get to know people if you only open your doors… and feed people.

Would you let strangers wash your dishes? Hell yes!
