It’s Friday! And besides it being Friday, I have another thing to celebrate.
For 30 days I committed to one daily task: Reading for at least 10 minutes. Not only did I have to do that (for it to count) but I had to check in with my coach. And I remembered to do that part every day too – not as easy as you may think!
Sunday is International Women’s Day. And I am impressed by the number of media that have written stories about this, because it was always something I heard talked about when I worked with Women In Film & Television (WIFTV) for a few years – their festival is this weekend to tie in with IWD. Having completed my 30 day task and then going to see one of my favourite artists, Alicia Keys, is a great way to celebrate being a woman in this day and age.

Completing the 30 day challenge is a great way to reflect how I have changed, if in any way, since taking the program last month. I feel more empowered, even on the craziest of days when I am getting up at 7 and sleeping at 1, and am learning to get to know the emotional part of myself, which I have not explored much before. They say women are emotional beings, and this is true. But I think it is what we do with this knowledge that determines how we live our lives and become better as women and as humans.
Alicia Keys did not have an easy life growing up, but I am sure that managing her emotions has helped her become the powerhouse woman she is today. A great wife and mom, a musician that is able to share her talent with millions of people, and a philanthropist for children living with HIV.
I am incredible lucky to have a great group of women who include family, friends, coaches and mentors, and celebrities like Alicia Keys who I can be proud to look up to.
I hope you celebrate the women in your life this weekend!
