This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!
It’s only fitting that the day after celebrating the ones we love or even love for myself, I’d like to honour the coaches and mentors I’ve worked with in personal and business life who have raised me up.
My sister, Sarah Garcia Hack – Sarah is not just someone I consider a best friend but has always been my biggest cheerleader. Living in her shadow as a second sibling I found myself comparing myself to her when we were younger. If she had not triumphed over certain challenges in life, she would not have been the successful person she is today and able to counsel me on hard life decisions. She is always the first to tell others how great of a person I am and I am so lucky to have her as a sister!
Cathy Kuzel – Known as “The Connected Woman,” Cathy was the first mentor I’d worked with from Fall 2010 to Spring 2011 through the Women’s Enterprise Centre‘s Mentorship program. Cathy analyzed my business from the inside out, and helped me to build my very first sales funnel system which I’d only heard about after two years of running my business. Cathy helped me build a strong foundation for goal setting and is one of the most savvy business coaches I have ever met. Anyone would be lucky to work with her!
Dawn Bowles is my new mentor through the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs‘ Mentorship Program and I started working with her just in November of 2012. Dawn has been super supportive of my transition to work with more social and environmental enterprises, and is a great sounding board for all of my challenges and new ideas. Dawn is the founder of DreamBank.org, an amazing charitable gift registry site and has run and coached many other businesses. I am very lucky to be her mentee!
Elizabeth Lim is the coach I am working with for 30 days. I have weekly calls with Liz, who I have to check in with on a daily basis after finishing a task I have committed to doing for 30 days (reading for 10 minutes daily, starting on February 7th). The awesome thing about this challenge is that if you DO NOT check in with your coach, even after completing the task, it does not count and you start from DAY 1! The completion of the 30 day task is a pre-requisite for some of the advanced courses, so not only is it a great challenge to accomplish (I am on Day 9 today), it is proof that you can commit to something and see it through.
Baljit Rayat is who I consider to be my spiritual coach. A former client of mine in 2011, Baljit opened the doors to so many opportunities not just in my personal life but in business. If I had not met Baljit, it’s safe to say that I would not have created Conscious PR. A serendipitous series of events after meeting Baljit started me on this journey within and look where it has gotten me! I haven’t worked with Baljit nearly as much as I’d like to but it so great to call her a friend because she is always open and available to talk to, and always running exciting programs, whether they are in-person healing circles, motivating telecalls, or online Star Activation healing seminars. Baljit is also a wicked artist who created the custom Star logo for Conscious PR!
I have many other people in my life that I would consider master teachers and mentors whether they know it or not, but these are the special ones who have touched me recently and in more powerful ways.
I hope you are honouring someone or some people who have raised you up in your life!
