This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!
Today I have a feeling of fullness and excitedness for my future, which, believe it or not, is not common. I feel very fortunate to have participated in a special “12-12-12” Global Meditation at 6:30pm PT last night, which was run off of YouTube. This workshop was locally organized by the ethereal and joyful Chiara (Alanna) Fero through the COPIA Networking Group.
I was reminded about how important meditation is in my life. I have a habit of waking up every morning with my daily mantras, which have turned from 5 minute to 15 minute to 20-30 minute ones I even use to procrastinate starting my day. However, a guided meditation led by someone else in a group setting is so much more powerful. There is a silent, powerful energy that happens in groups that I cannot explain to you in words. After the global meditation and a wonderful dinner, we went through two more guided meditations. We all heard the same words, but we all interpreted them differently in our minds as if we were dreaming different episodes in the same, unconscious dream. There is no right or wrong in meditation – it happens perfectly the way we need it to. It’s very fascinating! And I am finding that I am getting even better at interpreting what the abstract things in my imagination mean in my physical life.
Before going to bed last night, I realized that this has been the missing element in my life for many months. At the start of 2012 I can distinctly recall a feeling that something big was coming this year. I think many others did as well. It was a big year. We had natural catastrophes. I launched the new brand, the website of which I am blogging on right now. I left certain volunteer positions, and joined others. And my new home is finished, which I am fearfully excited about moving into next month. In this bigness and fearfulness we tend to look outside for tranquility, and the answer is so close to us we often forget: we need only look within for quietness.
If you have not experienced a meditation before, you might be surprised that you have already done one in a yoga class – it is the intention that you set yourself with at the start, and the end of class as you thank your fellow yogis. If you’re not into yoga, try one of the many centres around town and look in the listings in Common Ground Magazine. If you want to experience it on your own before you go into a social setting, try YouTube. Or my dear friend Baljit Rayat who, every few months or so, organizes a Star Activation healing via Internet or phone when the moon is full and energies are in alignment. This still counts as a group healing because others are listening as well – but you can do it in the comfort of your own home.
If not to connect with others and the universal spirit that we all share, my recommendation is to do it for yourself. I believe that there is a divinity in each of us, and we need only tap into it to access the answers to all of life’s questions.
As Oprah Winfrey said in her recent Super Soul Sunday interview with Caroline Myss: “So every single choice we make is either going to enhance the spirit or drain it?”…
CM: Everyone has a path.
OW: So there’s nobody here on Earth whose life doesn’t have a purpose or a path?
CM: Correct. If you have life, you have purpose. It can’t be otherwise. One atom is as purposeful as our planet. What is in one is in the whole.
Happy meditating!
