This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!
A colleague of mine named Tonia Mattu had the launch party of her new venture last night: Yuology – the study of you. A life stylist, Tonia has spent a year cultivating the concept of Yuology, which will include a series of events called the YuLounge where people can meet with other strangers and present an issue or idea that they need feedback on or just to start a conversation with. “Conversations with substance” is what it is.
I found it so interesting how, despite the many networking events that go on every night in our city, that people still crave genuine connections… perhaps it is because many of the events are all about business. Hence the rise of groups like the Conscious Divas, focused on the personal development and growth of women, or Jorge Amigo’s #bemyamigo tweet-ups, designed to make Vancouver a friendlier place. Vancouverites love to complain, and can’t hold their liquor on Granville Street after midnight, but if we’re calling Vancouver unfriendly, then it must be war zone south of the border.
What other events do you go to that foster your connection with others?
Check out the deets on the first YuLounge event:
