This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!
I had the pleasure of attending a panel event called Innovating Differently: Women, Entrepreneurship & Technology this morning hosted by the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs and StartUp Canada.
The discussion about women in the technology or just general business startup arena was engaging and vibrant; I’m amazed that they were able to pack 4 panels with 4 speakers each into two hours. Entrepreneur Columnist Rick Spence even moderated and contributed excellent questions from a different perspective.
A couple of points that struck me that relates to doing “conscious business”:
- Generally, women tend to be more connected to seeing tangible results in the real world, which is why the process of building a business may seem slower than the way men tend to build businesses.
- Do not believe the work-life balance hype. Your business should revolve around your life goals as well; and you should build a personal plan an addition to a business plan to ensure you are always moving toward your life goals.
- You must be passionate about your business idea, product, or service. Financiers are more likely to invest in projects if they see your passion.
Look out for StartUp Canada’s tour when they come back next year!
