This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!

Every day I am afraid of something.

And we should be. Because the world is never perfect.

I find that the older I become, the more stressed out I get about things. Which is crazy because we should be wiser and more equipped to deal with what life throws our way.

At two separate Conscious Divas events (one last year and one just last Thursday) I was reminded of one big thing with regards to fear: IT IS A GIFT.

How content we are in life depends on how well we receive this gift of fear. Many people use it as an excuse on why not to do something, even though they may very well need to do it in order to achieve a dream. Some are very close to that big dream, and then they get afraid of what big things might happen as a result. Fear both ways – it’s paralyzing, if you let it control your thoughts and actions enough.

I’ve heard before that we have to do one thing each day that scares us. And I know why now that this is true, because the more we do things that scare us the more we realize that the mind games were all for nothing… and there was nothing to be scared about in the first place. Once you achieve something you were once afraid of – like performing on stage or doing a speech/lecture or creating a new brand, or making a phone call to someone to apologize – you know you are capable of doing it again without fear. I have done all these things that I’ve mentioned, and more. And still I am afraid on a daily basis of what might be.

Face fear head on today. Take it down. Embrace it. Laugh at it. Do it.
