This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!

Oh, plastic. Don’t need you, but so hard to live without you.

My aunt sent me one of those forwarded e-mails saying that singer Sheryl Crow stated on the Ellen Show that she got breast cancer from drinking out of plastic water bottles, and that you could get cancer from drinking the water in bottles left out in the car type of thing. Another friend of mine posted an article along this same line, and while I don’t disagree with the argument, let’s face it. It’s depressing to talk about plastic and cancer.

Instead let’s talk about something cool I discovered from GOOD: A team of French industrial designers have created something called the Marine Drone that can scoop up trash (not just plastic) from sea level. Now this is technology I can get behind. Apparently the garbage is the worst in the Pacific Ocean (understandable) so I say let the drones run. It looks like they have just finalized the design, and the next steps are to figure out what will happen after the trash has been collected.
