This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!
In my office I have stacked up a few articles that will make for interesting conscious blog topics. Instead of featuring a “big” organization or outlet and a “big” story I thought I’d go hyperlocal and feature one of those local lightworkers I have had the pleasure of knowing: Alicia Bernbaum.
I don’t even remember how I met Alicia, but I know that she’d graduated from Kwantlen’s credible PR program not long ago and was looking to get into the film industry as an actor, as well as start a business as an online marketer. I gave her some contract work late last year and took her in as an informal mentee as she struggled with her business branding and online identity.
As she pursues new ventures it never ceases to amaze me how much Alicia has accomplished in her early 20’s. Many of us struggle with just the idea of what we’re going to do with our lives at that age, and Alicia has weaved through those ideas on her own, exploring new things at every turn.
This Saturday she will be running with the Estrogems in The Underwear Affair to raise awareness for research for below-waist cancer cures. Recently, two mothers of close friends of mine were diagnosed, and this issue – though I don’t prefer to highlight it – does need everyone to help as much as possible in its healing.
What I love about Alicia is that she always has fun in whatever she does and never takes life too seriously. Even when it comes to cancer, she still manages to keep it positive.
If you want to support her cause, donate to The Vancouver Underwear Affair.
