This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!

I struggled with whether or not I was going to blog today, as it was crazy busy and I haven’t yet had time to read my blogs and look for a feel good story to share.

I remembered last week when I was speaking with someone about Conscious PR and how I was going to work with conscious companies on Publicity campaigns. And she asked: “What do you mean by conscious?

Where do I even begin to define this? Well, physically, it means you’re awake and aware. So, in the large, Eckhart Tolle-like definition, it means the state when humanity is awake and aware of ourselves, in how we affect and create our realities, and how we interact with each other. The “New Earth” that he describes in his book is the new, conscious humanity.

On a business level, a company may be a very conscious one if its values are rooted in benefiting the community or contributing to social change. Or it could be one that is not, and so wants to begin on a conscious Publicity campaign to both do good and be seen to be doing good (James Hoggan).

Many of us – myself included – go about our day unconscious and it’s a struggle just to get through the day without wanting to crawl back into bed or go home and watch some trashy TV. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn’t really contribute to anything good either. The best scenario of a conscious human is where he or she is aware of the day to day tasks and how they contribute to the whole.

How conscious do you think you are?
