This is an archived blog from when I ran Conscious Public Relations Inc. from 2008-2018. Excuse the potential outdated-ness!

I love it when my hood gets news coverage. Since moving to Vancouver from Montreal at the tender age of 4 months, I have lived in East Vancouver. 6th & Commercial, Harriet (Fraser & 33rd), and then at my current residence at King Edward & Kingsway. I still have dreams of owning a ridiculously-priced condo in downtown, but a part of me will always call East Van home.

The Vancouver Courier highlighted the THIS IS EAST VAN photography project which started two years ago by two artists living in the East Vancouver area. They put out a photography book which I have skimmed over but I think it should be part of my permanent library… the second book in the series is coming out and there is a launch party next Saturday, July 7 at the Interurban Gallery, 1 E Hastings St. in Vancouver, 7pm. They’ll be selling their photos for $160 each and there will be a bar and DJ.

Aside from the always birthing restaurants in the area, another great event that I have had the pleasure of attending is the East Van Tweetup, led by community leader Ajay Puri of the East of Main blog. Every few months or so they hold the event at a different East Van restaurant and have speakers talk about their projects tied to the area. Until I attended my first East Van Tweetup I had no idea we had… well, our own East Van “celebs.”
